All also they've not actually officially said they accept any filesharing. So to start giving warning emails would be indirectly doing that. So dont think they will.. I think they've decided to unofficially turn a blind eye to low bandwidth (external mostly I think) filesharing. This doesnt mean tha...

Yea, exactly. Do you think we can all agree there are at least a few issues with definitions now? Yes I definetly think ITS need to specify their termns a lot more.. I have mentioned this issue at other times. And I truly think that its just proper service to the consumer (in this case the resident...

yoinkster u're entirely right... b4 ITS took over the ResNet I was told by an ITS staff that they daily received as much as 10-20k virus connections from the ResNet.. Freshers definetly give them a headache every year.. U kno I reckon thats why they should ally with us DC++ users.. We could supply a...

MSN on the other hand has nothing to do with P2P and uses a slightly different protocol. It also can make several connections, but often its bandwidth usage is far smaller.. When you chat to someone on MSN, don't the chat messages (and file transfers) go directly to the person you are chatting to? ...

How eactly do ITS/ResNet know who are using DC++? Is it just by port and address of people connecting to the hub or do they actually look in the packets for DC++ traffic? Not completely sure bout it. but I they definetly monitor ports and I believe with most P2P apps they also monitor the packets l...

yea I reckon its just ITS trying to blame P2P on the fact that the ResNet sucks.. bad excuse really.. they could just network it properly and P2P wouldnt be such a big deal.. Will be interesting to see whether they take further action.. I haven't yet heard of anyone getting a fine tho.. It seems the...

Dudes I can access Skype. It is working properly. So that is not an argument point. Zizzi I believe others are still having trouble and also if ITS are slowing down DC++ then skype will go with it.. its using a very similar protocol.. I dont believe they've made in distinction on the traffic shaper...
