Hey guys there is some new news on the Resnet site

http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/its/ ... computing/

What are your opinions???

I would like to specifically point out:

'IT Services will be monitoring general bandwidth usage and will take appropriate actions to restore fair and equal access to this service should problems arise.

This premise of shared bandwidth provision makes the assumption that no peer to peer filesharing activity is undertaken, which includes DC++, as it is explicitly prohibited under the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.'

ITS conveniently ignored the fact that many of the people who used p2p programs would then share whatever they aquired with everyone else inside the resnet.

I don't really see why they mentioned DC++ in that statement since it's not that great for getting things outside of a 100Mbit LAN, bittorrent would use up more bandwidth.

It just sounds like a warning that they will be enforcing the AUP more actively.
