lo all.
i dont know how viable or easy it would be but could irc be used insted of dc?
there is a good guide
here.
i dont think a network is needed to be set up on campus as the filesharing is direct between the two clients, just join an existing network. everyone who wants to share thier files needs to setup an fserve, although i dont know how that is done yet.
is it worth looking into? as you can see i have very little knowlage on this, but it could work.

well since the compsoc IRC servers are running nicely.. this might be a solution soon
the main objection is that IRC chat and DC chat have not been merged yet... it is hoped that the 2 chats can be made to merge so that they communicate between themselves

I don't think that compsoc would be very appreciatiative about you using their irc server for dcc mmkay...

was not talking bout implementing it on their IRC server.. but the fact that they can use their IRC servers on campus means other IRC servers would also work..
this would make this a possible solution to use for twofo!!

IRC works because of where the molotov is situated on the network. Although ITS said that they had 'allowed' IRC again, they said that xdcc was still blocked

don't rub it in...
I'll still find a way around ITS... if I had more time I would have done it long time ago.. I think they may have paid my departments to give me extra work
