Online streaming - Do we still need our music collections?

Was thinking the other day, with all the online streaming services like Spotify and grooveshark, do we really still need our music collections?

Yes arguably the quality is better if we store our music in better formats than mp3 but if you're listening to things on the move a lot of player still don't accept those formats.

Spotify for example has its mobile version that gives you unlimited access (including offline access) to a wealth of music.

So I put to all of you the question, do we still need our music collections?

Perhaps, but if we (or just me) never needed said music collection why then do we (or I) have it in the first place?

(increasing your share on twofo doesn't count as a valid reason :P)

Yep, definitely still require music collections. Acquire better speakers, acquire better mobile players and the better quality digital copies we keep become worth it.

Agreed, but I find myself so rarely at home and able to use my better copy music collection.

When on the move I am often only able to either have a subset of my music collection or a below-par quality version.

Thus the streaming option becomes just as good and often better as it requires less management.

Would be interested to hear more opinions though.
