Yes. Buy 3 to RAID-5 them.

Not yet. See if the 750GB ones will be a lot cheaper (they probably won't).

Not yet. Wait for the price to come down (they're roughly the same as other 1TBs).

The 7200.11s are pretty sick - sustained transfer rates in excess of 110MB/s

I will definately be getting some of them [though possibly the 750GB versions as I'm still poor] :P

Also... bear in mind that 1TB is quite a lot of data... so you will pretty much have to RAID-5 them for insurance... though I would go for the 4-disk RAID myself ;)

My plan is to basically grow my RAID as I start to run out of space in the future. Prices will be a lot less and I don't think I'll need more for quite a while.

Linux RAID is so cool that it'll even rebuild a RAID-5 if you want to add another hard drive. It'll even do it without requiring you take down the RAID! Thus, I only want the minimum number of drives - three - to start the RAID-5.

Because I've been saving up for quite a while and think it's time to finally (tera)bite the bullet!
