Major connection issues

Post by Adi »

I am in the grid, and want to connect to DC++. I have followed all the steps, but everytime that I try to connect I get the message:

*** Connecting to localhost:8000...
*** Connected
*** An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I am running stunnel, but still nothing???

Please help!!!

Thanks.

If you're in the Learning Grid, you should be able to connect directly to hub.twofo.co.uk:4144, but of course you'll only be able to transfer files with non resnet people.

Thanks I just tried that and....

*** Connecting to hub.twofo.co.uk:4144...
*** A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

This was the reponse that I got. I am in active mode with my IP running stunnel....

Confused

You did get stunnel from http://manyhappy.members.beeb.net/stunnel.rar , yes? NOT the stunnel homepage?

Yea thats where i got stunnel but i dont know how its working as when i did the one that doesnt require winzip it said that i need a password. Then the one like the link you just pasted said that it failed to initialise because libey32.dll failed to start.

Help!! :(

Exit all copies of stunnel you have running and delete them. Then re download the rar file, extract all of the files in it and run stunnel.exe
Then try connecting to localhost:8000

How does winzip work?? I cant extract it. I just keep going round in circles. Do you have a version that doesnt require winzips or passwords?

Nothing there requires a password, and you should be using winrar to open .rar files.
A version that can be opened with winzip is at http://astropointier.googlepages.com/stunnel.zip

The reason they require winzip is that it is an archive of half a dozen files, all of which are needed to make stunnel run correctly

Ok. cool. stunnel is working fine again, but

*** Connecting to localhost:8000...
*** Connected
*** An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

*** Connecting to hub.twofo.co.uk:4144...
*** A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

*** Connecting to localhost:9000...
*** Connected
*** An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

This is all im getting. Is there anything else I can try?? I'm in the grid connected to wireless hotspot. I am active with my I.P in the box.

No, it obviously doesn't work then.
Also remember that you would NOT be able to download at network speeds or anything so would be limited to those people onto the hub off campus with crap upload and no slots even if you did manage to connect from there

Might do, don't know. Wired connections are alot less likely to be restricted though, so give it a go
