Share ratios are client side 'm afraid... although I might investigate creating a modified client that slows your downloads if your share ratio is rubbish, you can then make it so that the hub will only certain clients :)

Well currently ~35% of the hub is sharing < 5GB [140 users online] so I'd have said that it would make a difference, even if all it does is stop people from being complete leeching goits

A lot of universities have very strict limitations of their residential networks, although I must admit, blocking stuff is a bit anal as virtually everything can be used for legal purposes and this is just impeding it

Yeah, 5GB seems fair, I mean, how many people still have computers with <10GB hdds now??
10GB is also a possibility, though I think that we should look at the difference that a 5GB limit makes

I would not have thought that Cocodude would be able to make a weekday because of work :\

However, I could most likely make that day :)

Yeah, hosting a hub is a bit vague, it's technically not against it, although I think because Kat was connected to it herself that would really not help things. ITS would also argue that it is engouraging illegal activity on the network

It's not that much of a crazy question! It actually means 5 tebibytes, i.e. 5 terra-binary-bytes (5*1024*1024*1024*1024) as opposed to decimal-bytes (5*1000*1000*1000*1000).
Yeah, but they don't know what a TB is either ;)

Pffffff opendchub is as solid as a rock - I think that it must be your lack of Linux knowledge that is the problem ;)

Yeah, windows filesharing can really nuke your bandwidth and processor if you have a couple of choobs streaming stuff off you.

Wireless is too slow for filesharing really :\

Unfortunatley I wouldn't have thought that BT would work very well on campus :\

Could someone write a client for searching/connecting to windows shares, yeah, it would be reallllllly slow but it would be better than nothing?
