Best bits from the Social

Thought I'd start a thread where people can say what they though the highlight of the social was (or any other random funny/embarassing things they can actually remember). So here we go... When asked to think of a famous name beginning with D for a drinking game, Smelly_Kat was given a massive hint ...

You're right, they seem to have changed it, I'm almost certain it didn't specifically mention DC++ before.
Doubt they've blocked it entirely though as 120 people are online currently, alot of whom are on campus.

From what I can see, we're back to the position we were in a week or two ago. You can connect, but it is likely to take many attempts to get the connection request through the traffic shaper, which has DC (and other p2p) on a very low priority. Once connected however, everything works as it should. ...

I don't think the latest versions of Gordian Knot actually come with DVD Decrypter. As far as I know, the last version that did was 0.28.7. I used to use gordian knot, but it started messing up the final files sizes of the rips (2CDs became ~3GB) so I moved over to AutoGK and haven't had any problem...

I think you'll find that if you leave DC connecting long enough, you will connect properly to the hub(s). Even though DC says it is connected, it actually isn't and will eventually timeout. Twofo currently has about 50 people on it and had around 100 lat night, about half of whom are on campus.

I think it's fair to say that both me and Smelly_Kat will be coming to both. Can't let Kat get sober for too long :D

Auto Gordian Knot pretty much does everything for you http://www.autogk.me.uk/ Although you'll need to download DVD Decrypter to actually rip the DVD onto your hard drive first. As for picture quality, you're always going to loose some when compressing, but for a normal movie, 1400MB is a good size ...

Yep, happening to me to - this is what happened before when ITS blocked DC, but they unblocked it again last week. Let's just hope this is only temporary. I found the best thing to do before was just to leave it connecting and eventually it would get through (although this could take a very long tim...

5GB sounds good to me. People have had ample time now to get stuff now. Have to wait and see whether the 10GB limit is necessary though I think.
