DC++ 0.68

DC++ 0.68 was released a few days ago. Unfortunately, one of the changes made means twofo, and any other hub running Open DC Hub, may not let you connect. If you want to use this version, the simplest way to work around this is to set "Max upload speed" to 2 or 5 (which will probably end u...

Nothing much has changed regarding DC++ and twofo from last term. Twofo is still running, using DC++ is still a violation of the resnet AUP and is still blocked.

Most likely, you need to update whatever method you were using to access twofo from before Christmas (i.e. find a new proxy server).

It's like groundhog day all over again! Look, if you didn't at least ask ITS for what evidence they had that you were breaking the AUP before admitting your guilt, then you're an idiot. Did anyone even check that ITS had got the right person? Unfortunately, a crappy internet connection doesn't give ...

Which DNS servers does the resnet use now?
I always found they were slow at the best of times, manually setting dns0.warwick.ac.uk (137.205.128.17) as your DNS server may help.

Also, wireless is slow, and has much lower throughput than the LAN. I don't know about laptops specifically, but I'm pretty sure the wireless card would have a different MAC address to the wired ethernet card. But anyway, of course you would be traceable. You would likely use up all the wireless ban...

DC++ is just an example in the AUP, they don't need to list every last file sharing program in existence to prohibit them.

well FTP happens to always use the same port!! this being port 21
The control connection for FTP is usually to port 21, the data connection can use any port (in passive mode).

.255 in a subnet is also reserved as the broadcast address, and I'm sure they keep a few spare IPs. The OPs on last years "The Onion" hub made a list of all resnet subnets, and restricted access to that list, and I think they also matched up subnets to halls. Access to the hub wasn't allow...

I just tested this, and noticed you actually join the hub and receive the welcome message and nick list before getting kicked out for not sharing enough. Shouldn't the hub stop you joining earlier, which would save more bandwith?

Well get an external hard disk drive if you are desperate to use the hub at peak times.

Unfortunately for you, there are a lot of people who suddenly share more files whenever the minimum share increases.
