they didnt block ping on purpose, they just didnt forward all the ICMP packets, which is a good thing, if they were to route ICMP packets all over resnet, it would be expensive and a waste.

not sure if something like that is there.... but, to write something like that wouldnt be too hard and it wouldnt actually take too long... it wouldnt be truely decentralized that would take a while and that wouldnt support chatting.... i am willing to write the server, but I need some people along ...

an AdHoc wouldnt work very well considering 2 things, one is that everyone is too far away and not EVERYONE will be able to get a connection and as it is a adhoc network, data most of the time will jump from one computer to another making the connection SLOW.
