erm
Thankyou for the offer. That sort of testing would be very useful, but I asked him to put that link up there and tbh I don't think u have any right to demand anything. Quite a number of people have been using the program with varying degrees of success since I first posted about it.

Check this
Excellent, glad you like it! You need to select an item in the download list for start download to work. Also I have just fixed a bug which may have caused it to crash then, redownload the file from the link on the frontpage! Working version number should say version 5.

update
Download the updated client and server at http://bigjim.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/gui3.rar it features new, more descriptive error messages when you can't connect to the master server and you can add whole directory structures to the download list(although it doesn't auto download yet)

Boller
The reason boller was stuck on the server list is because his client crashed and currently the server doesn't refresh very well as the server side code's very primitive - I have just manually removed him.

heya
Just to clarify, 'get server list' get's a list of who's online(which happens automatically when you start the program) and once you've clicked on someone on the list, click 'get server's file list' to see their shared files(in the original version I uploaded, it would crash if you did that with not...

Hi, I've just uploaded a new version to the same place as before with much improved downloading(it doesn't download the entire file into your pc's ram and crash  and it has a % complete thing). Also the crash when you don't select a server's fixed and searching's re-enabled(don't quite know wh...

1)The project's written in C++, the server using mfc(cos it's the only suitable open source ftp server I could find) and the client with wxwindows(so aside from some slightly dodgy windows api http stuff it could be cross platform) 2)Well, most of the ftp protocol e.g. everything related to uploadin...

Hi, I've got a very very testy version of the forementioned to try...goto http://bigjim.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/ to register a username and to http://bigjim.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/gui.rar to download client+server. A few things....it's single threaded so while it's downloading it appears frozen(this will...

is anyone else starting to write such a client
Hi,
I've looked into it and it shouldn't be too hard (crosses fingers) to write such a client - Infact I have started! I'm just wondering if anyone else's done any work on this idea(PM me)
Cheers
