could sum1 maybe give us the address of a working server? else tell us how to find one. i don't pretend to really understand socks5, but i googled for servers once, and that didn't return anything useful.

I've found that I get that error when I'm not sharing 5gig + Also, to share new files, i have to add the file, click apply, then restart the server for it to refresh. it should then say how much is being shared and allow u to connect without any problems. did u register to receive a pword and userna...

quick suggestion: could we add something to allow us to dl a complete directory? atm trying to dl a directory just dls an empty file with the same name, fairly useless. it would make it a lot easier to grab a whole world of files at once, rather than having to click them all individually one at a time

dld some more files from bigjim today. this time i got consistent speeds of 4-5mb/s ....which was nice :)

also, while it's still caning the cpu, it seems to be letting me do other things at the same time now, as opposed to freezing up the system as it did last time.

quick update - there was a guy on at around 13:30 called 'boller' - no idea why but i got the error msg unable to connect when trying to get his files.

there was no1 else on so i couldn't double check that it was a problem with this one server, though i was able to pull up my own filelist.

well it's no DC, but i can confirm that the new version *does* work. i succesfully dld a 200meg file from bigjim in roughly 5 min without any crashing and it had a % done n everything. there are 2 problems with it still, one which is minor and i'm not sure we could correct neway. first, the gui uses...

okay - it seems i do have the latest version (modified 13 Jan, 1867776b)... it simply doesn't have the fixes it's supposed to have. i *can* search, but i don't see a % complete newhere. i daren't let a file dl for too long nemore coz i'd rather not have the system crash again =p but i'm guessing it ...

--------->I've just uploaded a new version to the same place as before with much improved downloading(it doesn't download the entire file into your pc's ram and crash Embarassed and it has a % complete thing). Also the crash when you don't select a server's fixed and searching's re-enabled(don't qui...

hey, i don't know what the problem was but it seems to have fixed itself. now showing the right amount of shares, connecting properly, i can get the server list as well as their file list.

the only problem now is, i'm the only one connected =P

having some difficulty getting this running.... i ran the server, then the gui. entered my user name and password into the setup on both and added a folder with over 7 gig. in the gui, 'get server list' did nothing and 'get server's file list' crashed the program (presumably because no server was se...

definitely a good idea. the guy i mentioned got a letter today just to say that it'd been received, was being given 'serious consideration' and a formal response would come in time. problem with the university is that they're a law unto themselves. they'll make u pay whatever they want, and just wit...

A friend just submitted an appeal today with similar arguments. However he did it on the recomendation of the Senior Tutor, who said that he had a strong case. The only real differences I think are that he didn't mention resnet's inadequate performance (assuming the response that u got) and his acce...

ITS, P2P situation, future file sharing, fines

Sorry I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago when it would've been more relevant (when ppl were still unsure of what was happening), but I might as well do it now so it's there. This is lengthy, so only read paragraphs that look relevant. Friend of mine got network connection cut off and had an ...
