well to be honest it sounds like DC++ hasnt gotten blocked.. rather the speeds are generally low for u.. since DC has the lowest priority it simply seems blocked as all bandwidth is being used to provide u with the "shabby" web access.. Mayb so, however, i was sustaining 100+kb/s external...

It's basicaly DC++ thats been blocked on campus (for a lot of areas if not all) internet is fine (well as ITS standards go anyway)

why would it? if the email said don't do it hows that admiting they dont mind?

but if they unofficialy dont mind too much they would only send it to the top offenders, but still in the email say no p2p is allowed etc. just gives u more warning before your net is cut off.

I heard this today, which kinda makes sense but could be complete BS... Basically ITS are separate to Warwick Uni. Warwick Uni don't want any file sharing etc going on due to legal reasons. However ITS unblocked DC++ as it is safer then using other p2p (as its less likely to have viruses or the feds...

Any chance some1 could suggest the idea of some kind of "warning" system. ie instead of blocking the 17 people that they did, emailing them first saying something along the lines of "calm down stop being such a download whore" and then after 2 or so warning blocking, atleast that...
